79th St Rug Shop has commissioned to have several designs hand-loomed for us in India. A pileless carpet, the Dhurries, is usually woven in India with either cotton or wool. The design is created by interweaving colored weft threads through warp threads; meaning they are reversible. These flat-woven Dhurries from 79th St Rug Shop are quite durable and are easily cleaned. Because of the low wages in India they are an exceptional bargain. They are not made with child labor. It takes approximately two months to hand weave 9' x 12' Dhurries.
